Managing push notifications and other settings on iPhone/iPad

You can customize your experience on the SimplePractice for Clinicians mobile app by adjusting settings in the app, including push notifications for new messages and appointment activity. Below, we'll cover:

Managing push notifications on iPhone/iPad

Push notifications from your mobile device can notify you of important details about your practice, such as upcoming appointments, new appointment requests, and Secure Messages.

To enable push notifications within the mobile app:

  1. Tap your profile in the upper left corner
  2. Select Settings
  3. To enable notifications, make sure Push notifications is toggled on

If you’re allowing push notifications for the first time, your device will ask you if you’d like the app to send you notifications. Select Allow to finish enabling push notifications.

Alternatively, you may be requested to open settings. After selecting this, tap Notifications > Allow Notifications.

To enable or disable certain types of notifications:

  1. Tap Notification preferences

  1. Select Upcoming appointments, New secure messages, and/or New appointment requests to enable or disable specific push notifications
    • If checked, the notification type is enabled
  2. Toggle All on to enable all push notifications

You can also set up a default time to receive notifications for upcoming appointments. To do this:

  1. Tap Appointment notification delivery

  1. Select when you’ll receive the notification

Managing other settings on iPhone/iPad

There are other settings available in the mobile app. After tapping your profile in the upper left corner and selecting Settings in the app, you can toggle on the following features.

Settings Description
Use Face ID
  • When this is toggled on, your Face ID will be required when you open the mobile app
    • You'll need to toggle on Use Passcode first to use Face ID
  • This can provide extra security for your mobile app
  • For more information on Face ID, see Use Face ID on your iPhone or iPad Pro
Use passcode
  • When this is toggled on, a custom passcode will be required when you open the mobile app, which can provide extra security for your mobile app
  • After toggling this on, you'll be prompted to set up a custom 4-digit passcode for the mobile app
    • After this is confirmed, you can change the passcode at any time
Use dark icon
  • When this is toggled on, the icon will appear with a black background in your home screen
Use practice time zone
  • When this is toggled on, your practice's time zone will be reflected in the mobile app regardless of your device's settings
    • To set your practice's time zone, see Managing time zones
    • If this isn't toggled on, the time zone of the mobile app will reflect your device's settings

All settings can be toggled off and back on at any time.
