Customizing your calendar on iPhone/iPad

You can customize your calendar view in the SimplePractice for Clinicians mobile app by changing dates, switching views, and using filters and preferences. Below, we'll cover:

Changing calendar dates on iPhone/iPad

When navigating the calendar in the mobile app, you can change dates by either:

  • Tapping on specific days at the top of the screen
  • Swiping left or right to go back or forward a day, respectively

To return to today’s date, tap Today:

Choosing between Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Schedule views on iPhone/iPad

By default, the calendar in your app will display today’s date in the Day view, as indicated by the toggle at the top of your calendar. You can tap Week, Month, or Schedule to change the view:

The Schedule view is unique to the mobile app, and can be used to view a list of your appointments each day without seeing free spaces on the calendar.

Using calendar filters on iPhone/iPad

To further customize your calendar, you can tap the filter icon at the top of the calendar.

After clicking this icon, you’ll see two tabs: Filters and Preferences. Under Filters, you can filter your calendar based on clinician and/or location.

Note: The clinician filter is only available on our Plus plan. For more information, see Comparing SimplePractice features by plan.

To filter by clinician and location:

  1. Under Clinicians, tap the name of each clinician you’d like included in your calendar view

  1. Under Locations, tap the location(s) you want displayed on the calendar
    • To view the calendar for all of your locations, toggle All offices on
  2. Tap Save

On the calendar, the initials of an appointment’s clinician will be listed before the name of its client.

Additionally, the office location will be color coded on the appointment to distinguish between multiple locations.

Note: Our advanced calendar filtering options (i.e. new clients, incomplete documentation) aren’t available on the SimplePractice mobile app.


Using calendar preferences on iPhone/iPad

You can use your calendar preferences to toggle on Privacy mode and customize your calendar so that it only displays a certain time frame.

Note: If any preferences are enabled or edited on your web browser, they’ll also be enabled on your mobile app. Enabling or editing these preferences on the mobile app won’t affect how they appear on the web browser.

To access your calendar preferences:

  1. Tap the filter icon at the top of your calendar

  1. Tap Preferences

You can toggle on Privacy mode to only display the initials of your clients, appointments, and events on your calendar.

Next to Time, you can indicate the hours you want displayed for your calendar.

This will allow you to only view appointments, events, and OOO blocks within a relevant time frame for your practice.
