Credentialing is the process of becoming contracted with a payer so you can bill them for in-network services. CAQH is a secure database that makes it easy to share license information with payers when submitting credentialing applications. A CAQH account and ID is often required for credentialing.
Note: SimplePractice is assisting with credentialing in a limited capacity. Only a small group of customers are eligible at this time.
To create a CAQH account:
- Navigate to the CAQH sign-in page
- Scroll down and register as a first-time user
- Enter your personal and license information
You’ll receive an email with your CAQH ID and a link to create your login credentials. You can then complete your CAQH profile by following these steps:
- Click the Profile Data tab and complete the required fields
- Scroll to the bottom of the left column and click Authorize
- Click Continue to Attestation to review and attest to your profile data
- Navigate to the Documents tab and upload the required documents
- Document requirements may vary by state but will typically include a state authorization form and a state release form
- Click Review and Attest
Tip: Navigate to the Authorize tab and click Authorization settings. There, you can choose the recommended option of allowing payers and credentialing services access to your data. This speeds up credentialing by letting organizations quickly verify your information.
After attesting to your information, the profile will be submitted for review. If any errors are detected or documents are missing, log in and review them so CAQH can approve your profile. If there are no errors, you’ll receive confirmation within 24-48 hours that your profile is complete.
Important: If you already have a CAQH account, you’re required to re-attest your information every 120 days. This is required for credentialing and can be done by reviewing the Profile Data and Document tabs in your CAQH portal. If all information listed is up-to-date, click Review and Attest at the top of the navigation bar to begin the re-attestation process.
