The Billing hub allows you to manage client and insurance billing in one central place. Here, you can review outstanding appointments, add client and insurance payments, review transactions, submit and monitor claims, and quickly access billing-related settings.
To view the Billing hub, select Billing from the left navigation menu.
Note: The Insurance page, where you previously submitted and monitored claims, has been combined with the Billing hub. You can now submit and monitor claims by clicking Billing > Claims.
In this guide, we’ll cover:
- Navigating the Billing hub
- Accessing billing settings from the Billing hub
- Submitting and monitoring claims from the Billing hub
- FAQs
Note: The Billing hub is being released in phases. If you don't see this feature in your account yet, it'll become available as the rollout continues.
Navigating the Billing hub
The Billing hub is organized into four pages:
Dashboard
The Dashboard is the homepage of the Billing hub. By default, it shows the most recent 30 days of activity for all clinicians. Use the date range and clinician dropdown next to Overview to narrow or expand the information displayed.
Appointments requiring attention are listed in the Outstanding section.
Statuses listed here include:
- Appointments ready to file
- Insurance appointments that are ready for claim submission
- Unpaid appointments
- Appointments with unpaid client balances
- Appointments with missing info
- Insurance appointments that are missing information required to submit a claim
- Claims with action required
- Claims in the Scrub status that weren’t able to be submitted
Click one of these links in the Dashboard to navigate to the appropriate page so you can resolve the outstanding issue.
Beneath the Outstanding section, you’ll find summaries of:
- Client payments
- Insurance payments
- Claims filed and their statuses
- Billing activity
Information for each section is based on the date range at the top of the Dashboard. Click View in each section to see a full breakdown.

The Appointments page shows all appointments within the selected date range and their payment status.
Note: This page doesn’t show upcoming appointments.
The Appointments page includes two tabs:
-
Date of service
- Use this tab to review client balances for appointments within the time range and add payments
- You can filter the Date of service tab to only show Unpaid amounts
- The Insurance column shows the amount billed to insurance, not the amount the payer has paid. To review associated insurance payments, click the Add payment dropdown and select View details for the appointment.

Claims
The Claims page is where you can review insurance appointments, submit claims, and correct ones that require resubmission.
This page includes two tabs:

-

- This tab is where you can locate claims, review their statuses, and resubmit them if necessary
For more information on using these tabs, see Submitting and monitoring claims.

Accessing billing settings from the Billing hub
Use the shortcuts at the top of the Billing hub to quickly navigate to different parts of your account related to billing.
Note: The Online payments and Autopay shortcuts are only visible if you’ve set up an online payments account.
What are recommended billing practices that I can manage from the Billing hub?
Invoice creation setting: Simple Invoicing is recommended for most practices, as it creates one invoice for every appointment that will automatically update to reflect any changes made to the total.
Claim filing info: This shortcut opens a flyout of the default practice information populating claims. Click into each section to manage your settings, or add Claim rules to populate claims with unique sets of information depending on payer requirements.
Payers: This shortcut takes you to the Payers page, where you can add insurance payers and manage enrollments. Enrolling to receive Payment Reports is highly recommended for practices that would like to automate their bookkeeping.
Online payments: Creating an online payments account allows you to process client payments through our integrated payment processor.
Autopay: Use this shortcut to customize your Autopay settings. Autopay simplifies collecting payments by charging clients overnight for any balance in their profile.
Claim rules: This shortcut shows how many Claim rules are active in your account. Claim rules are recommended for practices that have unique billing requirements for different payers.
Submitting and monitoring claims from the Billing hub
From the Claims page, you can review insurance appointments, submit claims, and monitor claims after they’ve been created.
Appointments to file
The Billing hub’s Appointments to file tab is where you can review insurance appointments and submit claims. Click the dropdown next to a client’s name to view an appointment’s details, including:
- The date of service
- Clinician
- CPT and place of service codes
- Amount billed to insurance
The Status column displays one of the following:
-
Ready to file
- All required information has been added and the claim is ready to be submitted
-
Missing info
- Missing information needed to successfully submit a claim. Click Update info to see what’s missing and update the necessary information.
When appointments are Ready to file, you can:
- Select specific clients using the boxes next to their names, or
- Click Select all to include all unbilled appointments
If a client has more than one appointment within the date range, you can choose to include Multiple appointments per claim. Unchecking this option will create one claim for each appointment.
Note: Up to six appointments can be included on a single claim for a client.
If you want to review the claims before submitting them, or want to download the claims without submitting them, click the dropdown next to Submit claims and choose Create claims instead. This will create the claims and leave them in the Prepared status.
Claims filed
Once created, claims are found in the Claims filed tab, where you can monitor their progress or make edits before submitting them.
Claims can be filtered based on:
- Date of service
- Payer
- Clinician
- Client
- Location where the service was held
- Primary or secondary claims
- Claim status
You can also toggle whether you want archived claims displayed. These are past versions of claims that have been resubmitted and saved for your records.
Note: If certain claims aren’t appearing, try expanding the date range.
FAQs
Why is insurance billing part of the Billing hub?
The Billing hub highlights outstanding appointments in the Dashboard so you can stay on top of billing from one place. Because appointments can include both a client responsibility and an amount billed to insurance, the Billing hub brings these workflows together so you can quickly identify and address outstanding items.
The Appointments and Transactions pages also make it easier to track and add payments without navigating to individual client profiles.
What does Action Required mean?
Action required is a new status visible in the Dashboard and in the Claims filed page.
Action required indicates a claim is in the Scrub status. These are prioritized to show first, as they haven’t been submitted.
Once you’ve determined what caused the error, scrubbed claims can be deleted and recreated. The updated version can then be submitted to the payer. See Resolving scrub errors for steps on how to address common errors.
Denied or Rejected claims may also require follow-up depending on the situation, but don’t fall under the Action required category. To view all claims that may need attention, use the Status filter, select the statuses you want to review, and click Apply.
To learn about our corrected claim workflow and archived claims, see Submitting corrected claims.
