You can use Note Taker user controls to customize how draft notes are generated to better match your documentation preferences. If you're in a group practice, these user controls are set on a clinician-by-clinician basis. Your preferences won’t affect other clinicians or their notes.
Note: User controls are being released in phases, along with ongoing improvements based on clinician feedback. If you don't see this feature in your account yet, it'll become available as the rollout continues.
The first control available for Note Taker is Note Length, which lets you select from five length options for your progress notes. You can select your preferred note length to control how detailed or concise your progress notes are.
Note: Additional controls will be available in future updates.
To adjust your note length, a Note Taker draft must already exist for the session. To customize the note length:
- Navigate to the Note tab of the appointment
- Click Note Taker
- In the Note Taker flyout, click the gear icon in the top right
- In the Draft note settings window, select your preferred Note Length:
- 150-250 words
- 250-350 words
- 350-500 words (default)
- 500-700 words
- 700-1000 words
- Click Save
When you save your user controls, they only apply to future draft notes that Note Taker generates. Any draft note that's already been generated will keep its current length. If you want to change the length of an existing or current draft note, you can use the refinement feature. For more information, see Refining a draft note using instructions.
Important: You're required to review and edit all AI-generated content before saving and locking your progress note. AI may generate draft notes with mistakes, missing details, or incorrect information. Always verify the note is accurate and aligned with your clinical expertise.
