SimplePractice research study FAQs

SimplePractice conducts research to better understand the needs of clinicians and their practices. This guide answers common questions about how we use research and what to expect if you’re invited to participate:

Why does SimplePractice conduct research?

We periodically invite customers to participate in surveys or interviews so we can better understand their needs and priorities. This feedback helps inform product improvements, new features or services, and marketing materials that may be relevant to current and future customers.

What is SimplePractice researching?

Research topics vary and may include:

  • Services and offerings
  • Possible new features or feature enhancements
  • Subscription plans and pricing
  • Challenges of being a practitioner or running a private practice
  • Customer perceptions of the SimplePractice brand

How does SimplePractice conduct research?

To gather a wide range of perspectives, we invite different groups of customers to complete surveys or participate in interviews on specific topics. At the end of a survey or interview, you may be asked whether you’d like to participate in future research studies.

Note: In some cases, we work with external consultants. If so, the invitation may come from a non-SimplePractice email address. These consultants will always identify themselves as conducting research on behalf of SimplePractice.

Who qualifies to participate in a research study?

We invite a targeted group of customers to participate in each study. While we typically aim for 200 to 400 responses, we invite more customers than needed, as only a portion usually choose to participate.

We don’t reach out to customers who have received a research invitation within the past 30 days or to those who have opted out of marketing communications. Once we reach the target number of responses, the survey is closed to additional participants. Although surveys are often open for 1 to 2 days, they may close sooner if the target is reached quickly.

During a survey or interview, you may be asked questions about your practice to confirm eligibility. If you don’t qualify, you’ll be informed before continuing.

Note: For research on specific topics, such as group practice features, we may only accept participants whose practice type or product usage is relevant to the study.

How is the data from the study used and analyzed?

We collect your name and email address only to deliver your incentive after you complete a research study. Study results are analyzed in aggregate, and individual responses remain anonymous unless you explicitly consent to having your name used.

Your personal information and individual responses are never shared with third parties. Access to the data is limited to specific SimplePractice employees to inform company decisions. Aggregated, non-identifiable data may be used externally.

When will I receive my incentive?

We appreciate the time customers spend participating in research and often provide an incentive, typically in the form of a gift card. Incentives are usually sent within 2 weeks of completing the survey or interview.

To receive an incentive, participants must qualify for and complete the full survey or interview. Incentives are sent by email from SimplePractice@customer.rybbon.net.

If I’m asked about a feature or concept in a survey, does that mean it will be released?

Not necessarily. Concepts or features included in surveys or interviews are often exploratory and may not reflect SimplePractice’s future plans. Different participants may also see different concepts depending on the study.

If changes such as new products, feature releases, or pricing updates are added to our roadmap, we’ll notify customers in advance.

Important: Information shared in surveys or interviews is considered SimplePractice confidential information. You may be exposed to potential features or ideas that are not publicly available and may never be released. By participating, you agree to keep the survey and its contents confidential and not share them with anyone, including other SimplePractice users.
