Snippets let you save commonly used text or phrases so you can quickly reuse them while you're writing client documentation in SimplePractice. You can use snippets in an administrative note, chart note, progress note, psychotherapy note, other document, or a diagnosis & treatment plan.
Note: In progress notes, snippets are only available in long answer (multi-line text) fields.
In this guide, we’ll cover:
- Managing snippets
- Adding a snippet to your documentation
- Sharing snippets with your group practice
- Using snippet folders
- Accessing snippets for each team member’s role
- FAQs
Note: Snippets are only available on the Essential and Plus plans.

Can I add macros to snippets?
Note: Macros are only available on the Essential and Plus plans.
When editing a snippet, you can add macros that'll auto-populate client information, such as client name or next appointment details.
