Using snippets

Using snippets

In SimplePractice, you can create a snippet to save commonly used text or phrases, to save time while writing client notes. You can use custom snippets to stock frequently used text or phrases, and easily add them to a client’s file in an administrative note, chart note, progress note, psychotherapy note, other document, or a diagnosis & treatment plan.

In this guide, we’ll cover:

Note: Snippets are only available on the Essential and Plus plans.

You can access snippets from any client's administrative note, chart note, progress note, psychotherapy note, other document, or a diagnosis & treatment plan.

Note: In progress notes, snippets are only available to use in long answer (multi-line text) fields.

FAQs

Does SimplePractice provide snippets?

If you have Behavioral health therapy, Chiropractic, or Speech-language pathology selected as your specialty at Settings > Profile > Clinical info, you’ll have access to a folder titled SimplePractice snippets. This folder will contain commonly used snippets for that specialty.

behavioralhealthsnippets.simplepractice.snippets.png

Note: In a group practice, team members will have access to snippets in the SimplePractice snippets folder based on the Account Owner’s specialty.

You’ll only be able to access snippets in the SimplePractice snippets folder from one of the following specialties: Behavioral health therapy, Chiropractic, or Speech-language pathology. If you update to a different specialty, snippets in the SimplePractice snippets folder for the new specialty won’t appear in your account; however they can be manually added as needed. If you need assistance with this, please submit a help request.

Note: These macros are only available on the Essential and Plus plan.

When editing the text for your snippets, you can include macros that auto-populate information about your clients. To add a macro to a snippet, click the macro icon and select the macro you want to add from the dropdown menu:
