Comparing SimplePractice features by plan

SimplePractice offers 3 subscription plans with different features and tools. This guide helps you compare what’s included with each plan so you can choose the option that best supports your practice.

  • Starter
    • For the practice who needs the basics. Starts at $49/month.
  • Essential
    • For the practice growing your caseload and wanting to reduce busy work. Starts at $79/month.
  • Plus
    • For the practice looking to simplify admin work and streamline their business. Starts at $99/month.

Features by plan

The following features are available based on your SimplePractice plan.

Telehealth

You can meet clients for HIPAA compliant online sessions using Telehealth by SimplePractice, with no limits on session length or number of appointments. Our integrated telehealth features includes waiting rooms, screen-sharing, and interactive whiteboards.

Secure Messaging

With Secure Messaging, you can communicate with clients, their contacts, and your team members, while maintaining HIPAA compliance. You can also set up an automatic Away message to let clients know when you’re unavailable.

Client announcements

Team members

The option to add team members to your account is exclusive to the Plus plan.

With the Plus plan, you can add an unlimited number of non-clinician team members, such as practice schedulers, practice billers, and supervisors, at no additional cost. You can also add:

  • Practice managers for an additional $39/month per person
  • Additional clinicians, with pricing based on the total number of clinicians in your practice:
    • 2-5 clinicians: $74/month per clinician
    • 6-15 clinicians: $72/month per clinician
    • 16 or more clinicians: $69/month per clinician

Group appointments

If you see multiple clients at the same time, you can create a group appointment with up to 15 clients. Group appointments make it easier to share appointment-related information while keeping notes and billing details associated with each individual client.

The Plus plan includes group appointments for in-person sessions and telehealth.

Appointment reminders

You can send text, email, or voice reminders to clients for upcoming appointments. Clients can also confirm or cancel appointments through text reminders, which will automatically update the appointment in your SimplePractice calendar.

Calendar sync

Calendar sync lets you view your SimplePractice appointments and events on a personal calendar. Basic calendar sync is available with Apple Calendar, Microsoft 365 Outlook Calendar, and Google Calendar, while advanced calendar sync is available with Google Calendar only.

Customizable note templates

Templates for intake forms, progress notes, other documents, and treatment plans can be customized to fit your practice’s needs. You can create a template from scratch, or customize our default templates with a variety of options.

Progress note, other document, and treatment plan templates are customizable on the Essential and Plus plans. Intake form templates can be customized on all plans.

Insurance billing

SimplePractice supports insurance billing features such as electronic claim filing, claim tracking, and automatic ERA/EOB payment recording. You can also create, download, and print auto-populated CMS-1500 claim forms to submit outside of SimplePractice.

Automatic insurance status checks

SimplePractice runs automatic insurance status checks on your behalf to verify a client's primary insurance benefits. These checks indicate whether coverage is active, inactive, or needs review, and they run periodically as well as when a new plan is added.

FAQs


Does SimplePractice offer HIPAA compliant eFax or faxing capabilities?

SimplePractice doesn’t currently support eFaxing. While we don’t have plans to add this feature at this time, you can use a third-party HIPAA compliant eFax solution if faxing documentation is required.


Does SimplePractice offer a public API?

SimplePractice doesn’t currently offer a public-facing API for integrations with other software or platforms. While we may consider this in the future, it isn’t available at this time.
