The SimplePractice for Clinicians mobile app lets you take your practice on the go. It can be used for taking notes between appointments, processing credit card payments, sending Secure Messages, and more.
Note: Team members without a clinician role won’t be able to use the app.

Devices and iOS versions that can support the app
You can use the SimplePractice for Clinicians app on iPhones and iPads that can run iOS 17.3 or later.
To check the iOS version of your device, see Find the software version on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Note: Apple and SimplePractice may periodically discontinue support for older devices, so we recommend using a recent device when possible.
Support for older app versions
As of April 28, 2026, older versions of the SimplePractice for Clinicians app are no longer accessible. The app can only be accessed on devices that can run iOS 17.3 or later.
This means that the SimplePractice for Clinicians app is unavailable for certain devices, including:
- iPhone models prior to iPhone 11
- iPad models prior to:
- 6th generation iPad
- 3nd generation iPad Air
- 5th generation iPad mini
- 2nd generation iPad pro
If you have a device that falls under one of the categories above, you can continue to use SimplePractice on a desktop or laptop after April 28, 2026. To keep using the mobile app, you’ll need to use a newer device.
Note: If you have a newer device, you can update your iOS and/or app version to continue using the SimplePractice for Clinicians app.
Downloading the app for iPhone/iPad
To download the SimplePractice mobile app on iOS:
- Open the App Store
- Tap the search icon in the bottom right
- Search for SimplePractice for Clinicians
- Find the correct app
- Tap Get if you're downloading the app for the first time, or tap the download icon if you're redownloading the app
- Once the download is complete, tap OPEN directly from the App Store or navigate back to your Home Screen and tap the app icon
Note: We always recommend making sure that the app is up to date, so that you have access to the newest fixes and features. For more information, see Updating your iOS and app version.
If you delete the mobile app, no data or information will be lost. You can re-download the app anytime and sign in to your account to continue accessing SimplePractice.
Features available on the app for iPhone/iPad
The SimplePractice for Clinicians app on iOS gives you access to many features that can help with the day-to-day of your practice. However, other features that can only be accessed from the browser version of SimplePractice.

Using the app on an iPad
If you’re using an iPad, the SimplePractice for Clinicians app is designed to scale to your device. This means that you’ll have the full app functionality on a larger screen when you’re using an iPad.
Note: When you're filling out a text box within the app on iPad, use Option + Return to enter a new line.
The main difference between the iPhone and iPad version of the app is the location of the navigation menu, which is on the left side of the screen on iPad. You can expand or minimize the menu by tapping the two arrows on the top left of the screen.
Note: Your profile is located on the bottom left of the screen.
