Managing files on iPhone/iPad

You can add and keep track of client files in the SimplePractice for Clinicians mobile app. Below, we'll cover:

Viewing a client's files on iPhone/iPad

When you navigate to the client's Overview page, tap Files to view files associated with the client.

Files are organized in the following types and statuses:

  • All
  • Pending
  • Completed
  • Locked
  • Uploaded by client
  • Uploaded by practice

After tapping a type or status, you’ll see a list of its associated files. Based on your clinician and/or administrative role(s), you can also remove a viewable file by swiping left on the file and selecting Delete.

Sending a reminder for clients to complete pending documents on iPhone/iPad

When you're viewing a client's Pending files, you can manually send the client a reminder for all pending documents. To do this, tap Send Reminder.

On the next screen, you'll be able to view all the client's pending documents. After your review, tap Send.

Note: This screen also indicates whether a client has automated reminders for incomplete documents. This can be enabled or disabled on the web app. For more information, see Tracking the status of shared intakes.


Sharing and uploading files on iPhone/iPad

You can also share files with the client, or upload files to their page.

To share files:

  1. Navigate to Files from your client's Overview
  2. Tap the three dots at the top right of the screen

  1. Select Share new
  2. Toggle the documents you'd like to share with the client

  1. Tap Next
  2. Edit your email, if needed
  3. Select Send

To upload files to the client's page:

  1. Tap the three dots at the top right of the screen
  2. Select Upload

  1. Choose one of the following options:
    • Scan document
    • Take a photo
    • Choose from library
    • Import file from...

Adding files to an appointment on iPhone/iPad 

To upload files to an appointment in the app:

  1. Tap the appointment in the Calendar
  2. Select Add + next to Appointment files

Uploaded appointment files can be found in the client’s Files.
