SimplePractice uses multiple clearinghouses to facilitate electronic claim filing. While this allows us to always have a reliable claim filing connection in case there are payer outages, it also results in payers going by different plan names, and payer IDs being listed multiple times.
To simplify how this is displayed in the Payers page, we’ve consolidated all possible plan names and IDs associated with a payer into a primary table.
Each payer you submit claims to will have one table, with the various plan names it goes by listed under Other names.
Under Payer IDs you’ll see the different connections used to route claims to the payer.
Payers can be searched using any of the listed plan names or IDs. This means that when adding insurance information to a client’s profile, searching for a payer, or adding insurance payments, you’ll see the primary name the payer goes by, in addition to its associated plans and IDs.
Because SimplePractice uses multiple clearinghouses to facilitate electronic claim submissions, we may route them using a payer ID you’re not used to using. If you see a payer ID you’re not familiar with, the claim is still being sent to the same payer, just via a different connection.
